What in the world is Endometriosis

I remember the first time I heard the word Endometriosis. I’ll be honest, it went in one ear and out the other.  In simple terms, Endometriosis is a disease where the tissue that normally lines the uterus begins to grow outside the uterus.  Endometriosis most commonly affects the ovaries, fallopian tubes and pelvis. However, it many times also attaches to the bowels, bladder, intestines & vagina.  Endometriosis has even been found in the diaphragm, lungs and brain.

Endometriosis has no cure. Regardless of what doctors say, pregnancy and hysterectomy are not a cure. Medication only provide temporary relief and the saddest part is most GYN’s are not well educated on the disease.
